Kick off National Suicide Prevention Month with breakfast; share the importance of suicide awareness and
prevention; and allow participants to hear from those who have a personal connection to suicide. To

The awareness walk will begin at the Morehead Planetarium. We will open up with a moment of silence,
share the national “Be the 1 to” campaign, ways to help prevent suicide; recognize signs and symptoms,
and end with a walk to the Bell Tower. We will be collecting gently used, good condition shoes for the
vigil as a visual for those we lost to suicide. Collected shoes will be donated to Club NOVA Thrift Shop.
To donate shoes, contact Kiana Redd at email@example.com or (919) 245.2379 or Ashley
Rawlinson at firstname.lastname@example.org or (919) 245.2440.
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer -- 3 simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life
from suicide. Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver help save thousands of lives
each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide
crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. To register for QPR
